The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is an independent federal agency that promotes the preservation, enhancement, and productive use of our nation's historic resources, and advises the President and Congress on national historic preservation policy.

The Alliance for Historic Landscape Preservation

The Alliance for Historic Landscape Preservation is an inter-disciplinary professional organization which provides a forum for communication and exchange of information among its members. It is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of historic landscapes in all their variety, from formal gardens and public parks to rural expanses.

American Society of Landscape Architects

Frederick Law Olmsted was the leading landscape architect of the post-Civil War era and principal founder of the profession of landscape architecture in America. His sons, F. L. State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO)

Each state has a SHPO charged with administering federal and state preservation programs and laws, including: overseeing the nomination of sites to the National Register of Historic Places; conducting surveys of historic resources; reviewing federal and state undertakings (such as road projects) for their impact on cultural resources; working with local governments in developing local historic preservation programs; and providing education, training, and technical assistance to the public in historic preservation matters
