Weequahic Park Association

By Wynnie-Fred Victor Hinds

Dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Weequahic Park, the Weequahic Park Association  is a nationally recognized grassroots urban environmental organization. The WPA’s goal is to exemplify to the fullest extent possible, the ideals that Frederick Law Olmsted, set forth when he defined the meaning and purpose of parks as centers that should provide a beautiful respite from the stress of daily life.

The Weequahic Park Association continues to enhance the urban quality of life, by helping to restore this magnificent 311-acre natural resource and capitalizing upon the economic, educational and vocational opportunities available for the community. WPA addresses, not only park preservation, health concerns, and air pollution, but other environmental and social issues, all within a justice and equity framework.
