By Design: Frederick Law Olmsted crowdsourcing transcription campaign challenge
April 2022 marks the bicentennial of Frederick Law Olmsted’s birth. Many of the parks, estates, residential communities, campuses, grounds of buildings, and gathering places he, his associates, and his successors designed remain in use today. Find out more about landscape architecture, urban planning, and the cultural history of design for public and private greenspaces by transcribing and reviewing a new set of Olmsted documents from the Frederick Law Olmsted Papers subject file each week in April!
In the third week of the Olmsted challenge (April 18-26), we’re focusing on transcribing materials identified in our geographic list of Olmsted sites. Travel with Olmsted! Pick materials about somewhere you’ve never been. Check the campaign page this week for the identified items.
The challenges for April wrap up on Olmsted’s birthday, but the Olmsted By the People campaign continues with additional materials from the Library’s primary sources.
