The Charles E. Beveridge Research Grant pays tribute to Charles E. Beveridge, Series Editor of
The Papers of Frederick Law Olmsted and devoted friend of Frederick Law Olmsted National
Historic Site, its archives, and collections.
In keeping with this legacy, all candidates should have a plan or project that uniquely broadens our understanding of the Olmsted legacy at the national, state, regional, or municipal level. Projects addressing an aspect of the Olmsted firms’ work or their contributions to the pedagogy and professional practice of landscape architecture and planning may also be appropriate. A stipend of up to $3,000 will be awarded to the selected recipient to enable research. A short report or presentation summarizing the research is required. The awardee will be selected based on the proposal’s originality and the extent to which the research utilizes resources in the Olmsted Archives and other repositories.
