The Olmsted Network works alongside a wide range of conservancies, friends groups, scholars, professionals and volunteers— national and international— to promote and protect the parks, places and principles of Frederick Law Olmsted and the Olmsted firm. To honor those who have contributed their time and talents to our shared cause, we present a series of awards each year.

Now through July 15, the Olmsted Network invites nominations of individuals, organizations, projects and programs that help advance and raise the visibility of the Olmsted legacy. We are soliciting nominations for the Caroline Loughlin Volunteer Service Award and the Olmsted Stewardship Award.

The Caroline Loughlin Volunteer Service Award recognizes extraordinary dedication and commitment to protecting and preserving Olmsted parks and places. Named after Caroline Loughlin, a valued supporter of the Olmsted Network, the award is given to an individual or an organization that “volunteers to promote and protect the Olmsted legacy.” In 2025, both Betsy Shure Gross and Ann Satterthwaite received this award posthumously for their decades of service to the Olmsted Network. Other recipients include Caroline Loughlin, Charles Beveridge, Lauren Meier, Constance Guardi, and Lucy Lawliss.

The Olmsted Stewardship Award recognizes “outstanding stewardship of the living legacy of landscapes” designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, his sons and successor firm. Awardees demonstrate a record of accomplishment and help raise the visibility of the Olmsted legacy. In 2025, Anthony Oprisiu was awarded the Olmsted Stewardship Award for his visionary leadership at the Forest Hills Gardens Corporation. Past recipients include David Schuyler, Arleyn Levee, Christian Zimmerman, and Olmsted Parks Conservancy.

Winners, including the recipients of our President’s Award and Certificates of Appreciation, will be announced later this year with a celebration occurring in the fall. To nominate an Olmsted champion, please submit the nomination form, along with the requested supporting documents and two high-resolution photos, to info@olmsted.org by July 15. We will also accept nominations through Jotform.
