Since 1928, Hoyt Arboretum has served the public as an essential green space in Portland, OR. Located just minutes from downtown and straddling a ridgetop in Washington Park, the Arboretum encompasses 189 acres and stewards a global tree collection of more than 2,300 tree species from six continents. Free and open daily to the public, Hoyt Arboretum features twelve miles of trails that invite visitors to explore diverse landscapes—from towering redwoods to flowering magnolias and colorful maples—while encountering many rare and threatened species along the way.
Hoyt Arboretum thrives thanks to a unique partnership between Portland Parks & Recreation and Hoyt Arboretum Friends, a membership-based nonprofit dedicated to education, conservation, and community engagement. As a living classroom and public refuge for global plant biodiversity, the Arboretum inspires people of all ages to connect with nature and actively participate in building a more climate-resilient future.
