About Borough of Bronx

In 1876 Frederick Law Olmsted was hired by New York City Department of Parks to design and layout a transit system for the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth wards in the Bronx. Olmsted’s report discussed the feasibility of creating a permanent suburban quarter and debated the advantages of adopting straight versus curved roads. A year later he presented a map to the board proposing routes for steam transit.

This job includes a report on Bronx Parks, published in 1908 by The North Side Board of Trade.
