About Buffalo City Hall
Buffalo’s County and City Hall was completed in 1875 at Franklin and Church streets. . Frederick Law Olmsted prepared a Preliminary Study for the Grounds of the New City and County Hall which included sketches for proposed trees and plantings (Plan 12106-z1). In 1931 a new City Hall was built at Niagara Square and the City offices moved. The original building became known as Old County Hall and houses the Erie County Clerk offices. The original building is on the National Register and the site plan along Franklin Street retains the Olmsted design.
