About Colorado River Basin Recreational Survey
In 1941, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. accepted a request from the Secretary of the Interior to act as a consultant and conduct a “survey of the recreational resources at the Colorado River Basin.” Olmsted Jr. completed an analysis of “the probable effects of alternative elevations for the full reservoir water surface at Bridge Canyon upon Grand Canyon National Park.” [Preliminary Survey of The Recreational Resources of the Colorado River Basin_F.L.Olmsted.Jr_1942-10-20_LOC-OAR-B-R468-im.36&37]
