About Los Angeles County – General
In 1930 the Olmsted Brothers and Harland Bartholomew & Associates prepared a report titled Parks, Playgrounds, and Beaches for the Los Angeles Region. It proposed a system of parks connected by pleasureways and included almost 200,000 acres of green space. The plan was not adopted by the Citizens Committee they submitted it to.
The plan has been referenced in recent years as inspiration as civic leaders realize what was lost in rejecting the plan. See job 05372.
