About Mountain View Cemetery
Frederick Law Olmsted designed Mountain View Cemetery in 1864 (see job 12118). The Olmsted Brothers returned to work on the cemetery in the 1940s. The firm was asked to assist in the design of a mausoleum and improve the grading of the landscape. Referencing his father’s and Calvert Vaux’s plan 80 years earlier, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. laid out a general plan showing the possible location of a proposed road and Plot 67, an area for additional graves.
