About Newton City Hall
The Olmsted Brothers created a preliminary plan for the site of Newton City Hall in 1931 (01064-12). Working with architects Allen and Collins, they designed the grounds around the Georgian Revival brick building. Situated on an irregular triangular plot, the plan aimed to emphasize the property’s east-west axis. They organized the main lawn, circular driveway, and pond in line with the center of the brick structure and war memorial. The city hall was placed on the National Register in 1999 and still retains much of the original Olmstedian layout.
