The Olmsted Network is proud to announce the appointment of Sue Breitkopf as its new President, effective May 27, 2025.

Breitkopf brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience and a deep commitment to public landscapes and civic engagement. In this role, she will lead the Olmsted Network’s national efforts to advance the advocacy, education and stewardship of historic Olmsted landscapes across the country.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sue to the Olmsted Network,” said Philip Schultz, Board Co-Chair. “Her experience, values and strategic vision will strengthen our mission to protect and promote Olmsted’s legacy at a time when public parks are increasingly under threat.”

Prior to joining the Olmsted Network, Breitkopf served as the Senior Director of Development for Building Bridges Across the River, where she raised critical funding for 11th Street Bridge Park and its Equitable Development Plan. She has also held leadership roles at Woodley House, Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University and the National Building Museum.

“I am honored to join the Olmsted Network and to help build on its incredible work,” said Breitkopf. “Olmsted’s belief in parks as democratic spaces for all people is deeply personal to me. I look forward to working with our partners, local communities, staff and leadership to ensure these landscapes remain protected, accessible and inspiring long into the future.”

The appointment of Breitkopf follows a national search and reflects the organization’s commitment to visionary leadership and inclusive public space stewardship. If you would like to join us in welcoming her, please direct notes to info@olmsted.org or mail them to 1101 30th Street NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20007.
