Friends of Mt. Tabor Park

Located in Portland, Oregon the 176-acre Mt. Tabor Park sits on an extinct volcanic cinder cone and offers a unique mix of forest, history, views, and recreation in the middle of the city. Mt. Tabor Park has something for nearly everyone with paved and dirt trails, over 50 species of trees (check out our tree guide), historic reservoirs,  picnic areas, tennis courts, a dog park, and an open air amphitheater. 

The Friends of Mt. Tabor Park (FMTP) is a volunteer-driven community group that nurtures Mt. Tabor Park as a healthy and thriving urban oasis for everyone. We serve as public advocates who inspire love and stewardship for the park’s natural environment and recreational opportunities. 

FMTP was organized as a non-profit group in 2000 with our Foot Patrol program to help keep the park clean and safe. Since then we have added a visitor center that welcomes over 10,000 visitors annually, a weed warriors program that helps tend the Park’s natural areas, and our newest the Urban Nature Series providing free nature education and activities.
