The Newport Mansions, owned by The Preservation Society of Newport County, are famous around the world for the finest Gilded Age architecture, art and furnishings, but their gardens and grounds are also a treasure. The landscapes of The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House, Chateau-sur-Mer and others feature old specimen trees, seasonal flower gardens, fountains, statuary, tea houses and more. The Preservation Society is the steward of 11 historic properties totaling 88 acres of historic landscapes. With 1,800 catalogued trees, many originating in the Gilded Age, the Preservation Society is accredited as an official arboretum by the Arbnet Arboretum Accreditation program.
