About Bradley, W. C.

In 1920 Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. and his colleague William Marquis visited the estate of Miller to prepare plans for the layout of the property and for a rose garden. After a hiatus, the Olmsted Brothers resumed work on the project in 1925 after additional parcels of land were acquired and the land was sold to William Bradley. Mr. Marquis expressed their desire to continue, stating, “I need hardly say that it would give me very great pleasure to resume the work on your place and to complete some of the ideas worked out with Mr. Miller, but modified, of course, to meet new conditions.” [W.B. Marquis to W.C. Bradley_06-18-1925_LOC-OAR-B-R332_im.19] The updated plans included a greenhouse, a garden with perennial plantings, and a brick terrace off the backside of the house. The firm continued their involvement through 1937.
