About Jacksonville State University
In 1928 the President of Jacksonville State University, then State Normal School or Jacksonville State Teachers College, contacted the Olmsted Brothers for their services as there was a need for “a library building – also a new administration building and cafeteria with dormitory apartments above for married people doing light housekeeping.” [C.W. Daugette to Olmsted Borthers_08-27_1928_LOC-OAR-B-R414_im.5] The general plan was drawn in 1930 (plan 07963-35-pt2) . A special feature of this campus was the inclusion of an open air theater.
