Spencer Tunnell and Jennifer Richardson are collaborating on a book about Olmsted Linear Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Tunnell is a landscape architect and historian who serves on the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance (OLPA) board as does Richardson, an author. To be published by Arcadia Publishing, the book is expected to be out in time for the Druid Hills celebration of Olmsted 200 in April of 2022. It will focus on the park’s history and development including an overview of Frederick Law Olmsted’s design for the Druid Hills subdivision and the planting plans for the park as well as intrusions (a later formal rose garden) over the years and threats to the park before its restoration/rehabilitation. The book will also feature history and photos of homes alongside the park as part of an annotated tour including many historic photographs.
