J. F. Dawson received a letter in 1920 from a colleague in the landscaping and lumber business, who recommended Dawson for the job of landscaping Bogle’s newly acquired land in The Highlands. Carl Gould was to be the architect. This colleague suggested capitalizing on the full views of the Olympics. There is no documentation on whether Dawson proposed a landscape design for the property.
