About Douglas, Walter T.
James Frederick Dawson designed “Bonnie Brook” with job 08091, owned by Walter Douglas’ brother. Deftly handling steep topography and constrained layout, Dawson integrated the approach drive, bulkheads and a drainage ditch into rockeries, a grotto and iris garden. Terraces and a geometric flower garden adjoined the house and an elongated, irregular lawn and loop walk extended to one side, passing a woodland pond and iris bog to a flower-ringed circular pool. Conifers, flowering trees and shrubs heavily screened the road beyond.
