James Dawson drew a preliminary plan to fit two homes on a single lot in The Highlands subdivision. The entry drive curved up through native woods to access adjacent houses sharing a large “clipped lawn merging into the natural growth…down the hill.” The plan shows primary room, terrace and accessory structures placement, with flower and wild gardens flanking the larger house. Dawson suggested retaining fir trees for screening and adding informal lawn edge flowering shrubs.
