Bayard Cutting Arboretum

Heather Coste

Bayard Cutting Arboretum is a New York State park that was donated to the Long Island State Park Region by the Bayard Cutting family in memory of William Bayard Cutting. The intent of the donation was “to provide an oasis of beauty and quiet for the pleasure, rest and refreshment of those who delight in outdoor beauty; and to bring about a greater appreciation and understanding of the value and importance of informal planting.”

The arboretum, which describes itself as a “museum of trees,” offers visitors a chance to connect with nature through events like composting classes, plant sales and watercolor workshops.
