Olmsted Parks Conservancy

Iroquois Park by Rhonda Kay Henderson

Since 1989, Olmsted Parks Conservancy has worked to restore, enhance and forever protect Louisville’s Olmsted-designed parks and parkways, connecting nature and neighborhood while strengthening the community’s well-being. Located in Louisville, Kentucky, the organization works closely with the city, private partners, and citizens to protect and revitalize the park system.

During Olmsted 200 in 2022, Olmsted Parks Conservancy announced its first major expansion in over 100 years — an expansion of Cherokee Park’s existing footprint. Named Beargrass Preserve, the acquisition exemplifies the importance of land preservation and equitable access to green space.
