Park Watershed

North Branch Park River by Meri LLC

Through community engagement, scientific research, and ecological revitalization, Park Watershed Inc. cultivates clean water and healthy urban environments throughout municipalities of the Park River regional watershed, which converge within the Lower Connecticut River City of Hartford. Formed as a 501c3 in 2012, Park Watershed is highlighting the significant local legacy of Hartford native, F.L. Olmsted, evident in numerous city parks and landscapes as well as fascinating historic letters and drawings. Working with interdisciplinary K-12 students, academic researchers, librarians, community stakeholders, and government agency staff, Park Watershed foregrounds the need for safe, neighborhood-scale access to nature as a dynamic and beautiful, essential urban asset. Park Watershed highlights how clean water is integral to functional ecosystems that support the resiliency of healthy urban communities for past, present and future generations.
