In honor of Olmsted 200, Julia Bachrach, author of The City in a Garden: A History of Chicago’s Parks, will lead this walking tour of Jackson Park. She will provide an overview of the Olmsted firm’s three successive designs for Jackson Park: the original plan of 1871, the dazzling fairgrounds for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition; and the transformation of the site back to parkland after the fair. Highlights include the Wooded Island and Yoko Ono’s Skylanding sculpture on the site of the Japanese Pavilion.
